To all Team BC 2013 members,
First of all, I would like to congratulate all the coaches, players and support staff on a tremendous accomplishment this last week in San Antonio. Not only was the effort and accomplishment on the field second to none but the discipline and behaviour of the team while we were preparing for our two games was excellent as well.
I guess we can ask ourselves the question, "Did we expect to win our two games?"
Obviously the answer to that is now known but, prior to the actual games, we really didn't know what to expect from our opponents - especially the USA.
I truly feel that the main reason we won our games was that our players and coaches were committed to do their best. This, of course, started way back in our ID camps and although there may have been some outstanding players not on this team, we did have a team that became close and supportive of one another very quickly. Thus, the ingredients to our championship were Team Ability, Discipline, Dedication and Maturity.
I personally want to thank all the players for their dedication and effort. I also want to thank each coach for bringing the best out of each player as well as the other coaches. Finally, I want to offer my personal thanks to our General Manager Larry Reda, our trainer Mhairi Arnouse, our equipment manager Dave Henderson, our Football BC liaison and Communications Director Daniel Fung, our operations and logistics coordinator Philip Chan, and our special assistant David Fung.
In closing, after three years of being Head Coach of Team BC, I am so gratified in being given the opportunity to lead the best high school and community players in the province in these competitions. I am also very thankful on the quality of coaches that I have had on the coaching staff over the years and look forward to continuing these relationships in the future.
