Big games and big moments were all part of a simply stunning Saturday whether you were at BC Place in Vancouver or at Telus Stadium halfway across the country in Quebec City where the UBC Thunderbirds completed their Cinderella season by capturing the 51st Vanier Cup with a thrilling 26-23 victory over the Montreal Carabins.
Closer to home at BC Place, Saturday was the site of five BC High School Football playoff games including the Tier 2 championship game between the Earl Marriott Mariners and the Howe Sound Sounders. The Mariners captured their second straight Tier 2 title with a 40-14 victory to begin the day's action.

In one Sr. AA semi-final contest, the Carson Graham Eagles scored an upset over the GW Graham Grizzlies winning 24-21 to earn their spot in the championship game for the second time in the last three seasons.

In the other Sr. AA semi-final, it was the Chase Claypool show as the future Notre Dame Fighting Irish hauled in four touchdowns in a 50-29 victory for Abbotsford over Langley to send his team to their first-ever championship final.

It's been quite a while since the Mt. Douglas Rams weren't involved in Subway Bowl Saturday and this year won't be the year that changes. The Rams booked their trip to five consecutive Sr. AAA championship appearances with their impressive 53-20 win over the previously-unbeaten Terry Fox Ravens.

Traditional powerhouse Vancouver College is back in the title game for the first time since 2012 after defeating the New Westminster Hyacks by a 28-12 score in their semi-final. The Fighting Irish last captured the Subway Bowl back in 2010, and were most recently in the title game in 2012 when they fell to the same Rams team that they will face this Saturday.
