Football BC’s content team took in just one game this weekend but it was a big one.

Needing a win over a team they already know they will be meeting in the opening round of the Canada West playoffs, the UBC Thunderbirds took care of business on home turf on Saturday afternoon scoring a 24-10 victory over the Manitoba Bisons to secure second spot in the Canada West standings and earn themselves a home playoff date this coming Saturday when they once again will host the Bisons.

The Bisons’ roster included nine BC-born players, two of whom were playing BC High School Football just last season in Jamel Lyles (Lord Tweedsmuir Panthers) and Jesse Walker (Mission Roadrunners).

Bisons head coach Brian Dobie was kind enough to share his thoughts on recruiting in BC and his two BC-born super freshmen, while we also caught up with Lyles who spoke about his first season in Canada West.
