From Brandon Hestdalen, Junior Varsity Coach with the Centennial Centaurs
The Centennial Football family was shocked to hear the news that our friend and fellow coach, Steve Faoro, is no longer with us. He passed in a car accident on the weekend. He was one of the most passionate, dedicated & selfless coaches we have worked with. A proud tri-cities & Canadian guy that got a taste of the bigs, and one of the most infectiously passionate men that I have met for the game of football.
Coach Faoro has coached football for SFU, Coquitlam Minor Football and most recently Centennial Football. He played high school football at Pinetree under Bernie Crump, Acadia University, Team Canada, in the CFL, in the Top Flight Flag Football League with the Vancouver Villains, and on the Bellingham Bulldogs.
Mostly, Steve was dedicated to the game of football and wanted to share his love with anyone possible his efforts have been tireless to give back some of the coaching and mentoring he has received. He has coached university football and 7, 8 & 9 year olds for three years, high school football and has gone to tri-city middle schools to build share his passion for football.
Our most sincere condolences for the family, athletes, friends that Steve touched.
He played in 3 leagues and coached in 3 leagues and has contacts that reach across football.
Coach Faoro's service will be on Monday, Nov 24th at 3:00pm at the Italian Cultural Center (3075 Slocan Street, Vancouver).
