The CFL Scouting Bureau has published its final list of top 15 prospects eligible for the 2014 CFL Canadian Draft and the list includes three BC-born players, two of which are former members of Team BC.
The top BC-born player is DL Dylan Ainsworth (Delta) from the University of Western who is ranked seventh. Ainsworth is a product of the South Delta Rams and played high school football with the South Delta Sun Devils.
Ainsworth rose to seventh position after previously being ranked 15th back in January.
2010 Team BC alum OL Matthias Goossen (Richmond), who plays locally at Simon Fraser University, sits ninth in the final rankings. He had previously been ranked fifth in the January rankings.
Goossen, in addition to playing high school football with the Vancouver College Fighting Irish, won a bronze medal at the 2010 Football Canada Cup with Team BC. He also suited up for Team World at the 2012 IFAF International Bowl and helped Team World defeat Team USA for the first time ever at that event.
Goossen's 2010 Team BC teammate and current teammate at Simon Fraser University, LB Casey Chin (Port Moody), is slotted 12th on the list. He fell one spot from his January ranking.
Chin, who played high school football with the New Westminster Hyacks and is the son of the late, great Kevin Chin, also won bronze at the Football Canada Cup with Team BC in 2010.
The 2014 CFL Draft will be held on May 13 with the Ottawa REDBLACKS holding the first overall selection.
